The alternative would leave us digging in the earth as subsistence share crop farmers barely growing enough food to survive because the peasant couldn't adapt along with the rest of civilization and create new ideas, new methods, new forms of art and literature, new jobs that couldnt even be imagined by that humble farmer. There are limitless things that AI will not be able to do. Let's spend our new found time discovering and inventing them.

A degree in math doesn't necessarily anoint him with deep or special insight into the nature of AI. But that doesn't stop him from babbling about it destroying humanity.
Leo XIV's views on AI may very well be similar to Leo XIII's views on industrialization --- which is to say overwrought.
